Integrated Studies

The Integrated Studies Unit is characterised by the flexible nature of individual programs negotiated with each student. Our Integrated Studies staff acknowledges that the most successful programs that should be offered to our students will cater for their individual differences and needs.

Students with learning difficulties who are enrolled in our Integrated Studies class have programs specifically tailored to meet their educational, social and emotional needs. Their learning program typically includes a combination of Life Skills courses, TAFE and school delivered Vocational and Education Training courses, mainstream and work-place training programs.

Students who attend the Integrated Studies classes are encouraged to:

  • be self directed learners
  • achieve effective communication, literacy and numeracy skills
  • be aware of personal rights and safety within the workplace and community
  • make healthy lifestyle choices
  • have the personal skills and values to live fulfilling, participatory and productive lifestyles.

All students are guided towards accessing the program that best suits their individual needs. Support for all students includes core subject counselling, support for Vocational Education and Training courses, Community access programs and liaison with post-school agencies.
