Computing Studies

Students work on a project in their Computing Studies class at Freshwater Senior Campus.

The teaching of computing at Freshwater Senior Campus is characterised by a unique project based approach to all courses. Students learn applications whilst working on projects that are innovative, interesting and relevant. The computing staff are experienced teachers and HSC exam markers. They are highly qualified and are committed to on going training, completing courses each year updating their skills.

 


Facilities include 3 laboratories with 24 computers, on-line storage of materials and access to the computer network from home. Students learn to use packages such as Microsoft Office, Flash, Dreamweaver, Premiere Pro and Adobe Photoshop. Students also have access to video and digital cameras, scanners, web cameras and Lego robotic kits. Entry to external competitions is also encouraged.


Those students who study Information Technology leave the course with a Certificate II in IT, which is nationally recognised. This course includes 70 hours of work placement giving the students relevant industry experience.
